Pharmaceutical plants, from bare ground to first batch.

Fabtech Technologies Ltd is a global pharmaceutical engineering company, headquartered in Mumbai and listed as FABTECH. You work with one partner, one team, from concept design to qualification. That covers cleanrooms, HVAC, water systems and process equipment. We build oral solid dosage, injectable, biotech and API plants. Global bio-pharma companies build with us across Africa, the Middle East, South Asia and Latin America.

We choose the site for your plant, then clear the ground and make it level.

Site selection and development

We mark the plant layout on the ground, then build the foundations and the steel frame.

Civil and structural works

Above the rooms, we install the air handling units and the pipes for water and steam.

HVAC and process utilities

We plan how clean each room must be, and how people and materials move through it.

GMP layout and zoning

We build the cleanroom walls, ceiling and doors, and lay the epoxy floor.

Cleanroom fit-out

We install the filling line and connect it to the air, water and power it needs.

Equipment installation and hook-up

We test every system, record the results, and hand over the plant.

  6. Greenfield and brownfield projectsNew plants, and changes to running plants

How we build a pharmaceutical plant

  1. The market's rules shape the design from the start.

Before we order a single wall panel, we shape the layout to the standard of the market you will supply. That standard depends on where your medicine will be sold. The inspector's checklist is the first layer of the design.

  2. Clean, filtered air reaches every room.

HEPA filters remove fine particles from the air for each room. How often the air changes each hour depends on the room's class and the heat it makes. The clean air flows over the product wherever it is open. Your particle counts will show it on every batch record.

  3. The rooms stay clean while production runs.

Each zone of the plant has its own class of cleanliness. People and materials move between zones through airlocks (small rooms) and pass boxes (wall cabinets). The air pressure steps down from the cleanest room and never flows backwards. We size the rooms for the hardest day of production.

  4. Pure water and steam, to pharmacopoeia standard.

Our systems make purified water by RO and EDI, two purification steps. They make WFI (water for injection, the purest grade) by multi-column distillation, and they make pure steam. Pipe loops carry them to every point of use, built to ASME BPE where the specification calls for it.

  5. Months later, the plant starts production.

The time to build a new sterile plant is set at the design stage. It depends on the scope, the dosage form and the market you supply. One contract protects that date from delays between different suppliers.

The standards we build to

We fix the standard your inspectors will check on day one. That standard shapes every design, every weld and every interlock. Our plants are built to withstand inspection under the USFDA (United States), MHRA (United Kingdom) and TGA (Australia) schemes.

Vaccines and biosimilars

Vaccines and biosimilars are made with living cells. The room protects both the product and the workers, so its air pressure differs from a tablet plant. We have built a BSL-3 laboratory. Mechnikov in Nicaragua is a vaccine plant planned at about 9,000 square metres, as its case study states. See biosafety level 3 installations. Read about our turnkey biopharmaceutical facilities.

Oncology

Oncology medicines treat cancer. They are so strong that a very small amount can harm the people who make them. We build contained suites for cancer medicines. Isolators, sealed cabinets with gloves set into the wall, keep the product away from the operator. Read about our oncology projects. See how an oncology manufacturing facility is laid out.

Oral solid dosage and liquids

Oral solid dosage means medicines you swallow: tablets, capsules, granules and powders. Liquids include syrups and suspensions. We build these plants and supply the process equipment, such as granulators, fluid bed processors and tablet coaters. Fidson Healthcare in Nigeria planned six dosage lines in one plant. Fabtech's contract covered the cleanrooms, HVAC, utilities, high purity water and laboratory. See our approach to oral solid dosage facility design.
